Jorgalad Shares Pro Tips on Getting More Out of Zebra Envelopes
We are happy to welcome back artist, producer and sound designer, Jorgalad. This time he kicks down some serious pro tips on getting more out of Zebra envelopes!
There are many features in the Zebra envelopes that are kind of hidden away from the main interface. You need to right-click to access many of the options that really allow you to unleash the full potential of these modulators. The same can be said about many other tools and parameters found throughout this incredibly deep synth, but for now we will stay focused on the Zebra envelopes. Jorgalad does a good job of going into detail about some of these different options, like delay and looping within envelopes, and shares several insights and suggestions along the way.
Now it is one thing to manipulate your sounds by using some of these options in the main amp envelope, but using Zebra envelopes to modulate other parameters throughout the patch you are working on is where the real magic starts to happen. You can easily begin to find amazing results that are simply unattainable any other way and it’s not a rarity to be surprised by your own sounds when you go down this path. Simple put, the Zebra envelopes are incredibly powerful tools, especially the multi-stage envelope generators. They are one of the things that really set this synth apart from the rest on the market.
You can easily take one patch and transform it into many other versions, some of them unrecognizable, just by using Zebra envelopes. In fact, this is a really good learning tool that you should try if you are still learning about Zebra or want to find new ways to take your sounds to another level. Save one of your presets into a new folder and then begin making several variations on this sound and save them all to that folder. Try to use different Zebra envelopes and MSEG assignments to achieve new and exciting twists and turns in your sounds. Use Zebra envelopes in tandem with various filters and effects to extend the sounds even further and eventually you will discover many, many new ways to use these tools. The deeper you dig, the more you will learn and grow!
