Learn How to Make a Gritty Electro Bass in Sylenth1
In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you how to create a gritty Electro bass in Sylenth1 that will work well with multiple genres.
I love making basses in Sylenth. For some reason, to my ears at least, they just have their own unique sound that I like. This gritty Electro bass in Sylenth1 is a really aggressive bass that you could use in your drops in EDM or even in Hip Hop.
First, the Electro bass in Sylenth1 only uses one part, PART A. You can get a huge bass sound only using 2 oscillators in Sylenth! I blended the hPulse wave with a Sine wave and that’s all!
Sometimes in Sylenth, you have to work backwards to move forwards. Weird philosophical sentences aside, by that I mean sometimes you have to kill the filter in either the Filter section or the master Filter control and then bring it back up using a modulator in the Modulation Envelope(s). You will notice how I set the Filter Cut Off actually decreases almost all of the audible sound, but I regain that difference by applying the Cut Off A and Reso A in Modulation Env1.
Finally, using the distortion module is a great way to make your basses in Sylenth cut through a mix. I could have just boosted the Cut Off higher, but by using the Overdrive distortion the sound become much more gritty.
