Hoover Bass Design With Serum

Starting with a custom wavetable I created that features high harmonic wave frames ideally suited for creating Hoovers, we create this classic sound in Serum with a modern twist.

The Hoover, also known as the Dominator, is one of the most common and enduring sounds in electronic dance music. The sound has made it into countless dance and pop classics since it was released as a preset on the Roland Alpha Juno.

The original sound was created using three square oscillators, stacked octaves apart with heavy pulse width modulation and chorusing. We can recreate this sound in Serum using several tricks that give us more flexibility than other reproductions.
