Virtual Analog Synth
Cherry Audio's cutting-edge addition to its lineup of groundbreaking virtual instruments is here at last. Introducing a virtual emulation of the Best-in-class instrument based on ARP's 1972 preset-based monophonic analog synth.
Introducing the Pro Synth, Cherry Audio’s cutting-edge addition to its lineup of groundbreaking virtual instruments.
Developed by the acclaimed Mark Barton, this extraordinary virtual instrument is a homage to the legendary monophonic analog synth released by ARP in 1972. Going beyond mere emulation, the Pro Synth faithfully reproduces the iconic controls, renowned presets, and distinctive architecture of its predecessor while unlocking a new realm of sonic possibilities.
In the early 1970s, analog synthesizers were a mystery to many musicians. To make synthesis more accessible, ARP pioneered the Soloist in 1970, the first commercial preset synthesizer with 18 presets and basic controls. Two years later, the Pro Soloist emerged, featuring revolutionary digital read-only memory chips for enhanced tuning stability and expanding the preset selection to 30. Its groundbreaking touch sensor keyboard, now known as aftertouch, allowed for expressive playing, enabling musicians to emulate a variety of lead instrument sounds.
Cherry Audio’s Pro Synth takes this iconic instrument to the next level
By introducing a dual-layer voicing architecture with 16 polyphonic voices per layer, this allows for the simultaneous playability of two different Pro Synth-style sounds, with independent panning for rich stereo timbres and layered sounds. The instrument also supports a split keyboard mode and offers an option to simulate polyphonic aftertouch using a monophonic aftertouch controller, providing expanded expressive possibilities beyond the standard touch sensor effects.
Featuring a distinctive three-panel interface, the Pro Synth is not just a preset synth—it’s a powerhouse of creativity. In Performance mode, each original paddle preset is faithfully recreated with MIDI-mappable switches. Switch to Edit mode, and you’ll discover all the unique analog synthesis architecture parameters, including the fully-variable, five parallel bandpass filter “Resonator Bank,” crucial for achieving the Pro Synth’s realistic acoustic orchestra timbres.
The Pro Synth also boasts an Arp/FX mode, complete with a syncable arpeggiator and a dozen studio-quality effects, including distortion, phaser, flanger/chorus, echo, and reverb. With full MIDI support, the Pro Synth is tailored for modern music production environments.
