- Komplete Kontrol S-3 MK2 Demo
Start with a walkthrough of the functions and capabilities of the new Komplete Kontrol MK2. In this demonstration we utilise the tag based browser, daw integration, smart play features, native map and mixer to quickly lay down creative ideas and build the foundations of a track.
We will also take an look at how you can optimise your project and track defaults to streamline your workflow even further.
- Setup & MIDI Remote Scripts
To unlock the Komplete Kontrol MK2’s full potential its essential to carry out all the installation and setup requirements properly. This video can be used as a step by step guide to install the midi remote scripts which enable the Komplete Kontrol MK2 to be used as a control surface as well as the Komplete Kontrol instrument racks.
- Hardware Overview
Explore all of the elements of the hardware including the modes & functions of all the buttons, knobs and shift functions & input/outputs on the rear of the keyboard.

This video is a general overview of the Komplete Kontrol software. Covering the difference between the Komplete Kontrol device and racks, AU vs VST versions, the browser, top menu bar, smart play window, mapping window & also the plugin windows and various views.
- The File Menu
in this video we explain the file menu in detail. This menu gives us access to a lot of preferences and library locations which will be revisited in later videos. Knowing how to navigate the file menu is essential for changing view types and loading third party plugins as well as managing locations libraries and presets.
Working with Kontrol MK2 Controls
- The Browser
in this video we take a closer look at the browser, covering the files tab, the instrument library and the multiple ways you can navigate it. We also demonstrate the use of the new preview player and explain the difference between the user library, factory library and how to set up and filter instruments by favourites on both of these libraries.
- File & Preset Management
Learn how the library file structure works and how to access and add both NI and 3rd party libraries and presets how to take advantage of the native map and smart play features. You’ll also create a custom Kontakt sampler instrument using drum samples and set up the light guide before saving it within Komplete Kontrol browser.
- Edit Controls
in this video we demonstrate how to manipulate a preset from the Komplete Kontrol hardware. In the second part of this video we demonstrate the edit controls such as undo/redo, quantise and automation arm.
- Transport Controls
in this video we cover the Komplete kontrol Mk2 transport control’s. The Komplete Kontrol gives you a lot of control over how you navigate, loop, launch, record and scrub through the project. In this video we also demonstrate how to record and automate into arrangement view.
- DAW Control
Explore the DAW integration and capabilities of the Komplete Kontrol. By using the 4-way encoder you can now move in all directions in your host DAW so you can jump between tracks quickly whilst launching and recording clips.
- Mixer
in this video we explain the functions of the komplete Kontrol Mk2s mixer such as:

We also demonstrate how we can use the mixer in combination with a midi template to control reverb send/returns.
MK2 Smart Play, MIDI and More
- Smart Play 1 – Note Repeat
in this video we cover the first area of the smart play functions, the note repeat.
We use this note repeat function in combination with some modulation sources to add an extra layer of movement and expression to our high percussion patterns.
- Smart Play 2 – Sequences
in this video we create some call and response style techno drum patterns using the arpeggiator smart play feature and some of its more advanced parameters such as ‘repeat’ and ‘re-trigger’.
- Smart Play 3 – Chord & Scale
in this video we use the Komplete Kontrol Smart-play features to add a pad to a techno loop. The examples used are a powerful learning tool for new producers allowing you to have more fun creating music without the worries of hitting a note out of scale. You can then easily harmonise our patterns with further chords or melodies by using the harmonise feature.
- Smart Play 4 – Arpeggiator
This video covers controls such as swing, hold, gate, rate, arpeggiator type, re-trigger, repeat, octave and inversions. Understanding these controls can give limitless possibilities of complex arpeggiated patterns and sequences.

in this video we explain the advantages of NKS partner plugins and how native map is intuitively mapped for ease of manipulation
- Third Party Native
Learn how to map custom preset templates for each of your favourite plugins and gain an understanding of how quickly the use of the mapping allows you to design sounds by creating a Tb-303 acid bass emulation.
- MIDI Map Mode
Discover how to create midi templates which can be used within your projects. To do this we must now create our mapping templates via the standalone version of Komplete Kontrol.
- Printing & Sending MIDI
in this video we walk through the midi capabilities of the Komplete Kontrol. From how to print the midi output of the Mk2 Smart-play functions, routing to clips, internal plugins within the DAW and external synthesisers using the external instrument plugin through to sending midi directly from the rear of the Komplete Kontrol using a midi Din cable in standalone mode.
