Make A Techno Arp Sequence in Massive
In this tutorial, Johnny will show you how to make a digital sounding Techno Arp sequence in Massive as well as some filtering techniques!
Johnny uses some unique wavetables to make this Techno Arp sequence in Massive.
Massive comes with a few types of Additive waveforms which can produce a wide range of sounds.
The Additive waveform used in this tutorial is capable of creating a sound that is a lot like an Organ.
To introduce a little grit and fuzz into the sound, blend the Additive wavetable with a Rough Math waveform or another more digital sounding waveform.
To make the Techno Arp Sequence in Massive, Johnny uses a Stepper and a Performer. The Stepper is what is actually changing the pitch and creating the Arp sequence. To make the sequence more musical, Johnny modulates the Cut Off frequency of Filter 1 with a Performer.
The Performer tab in Massive is quite deep. The randomize feature is a nice tool to help get started with unique shapes. This is especially helpful with Performers that extend to 16 steps.
To make the Techno Arp sequence in Massive more interesting try these two tricks! Apply the Velocity marco to the Cut Off that is controlled by the Performer to make the sound more playable and expressive. You can also modulate the noise oscillator with an LFO. This will keep the noise from appearing on every note or attack of the sound!
