How to Make a Stabbing Synth Pad with NI Massive
This is another quick NI Massive video tutorial from one of our many MassiveSynth community members! It shows how he creates a simple stabbing pad instrument.
YouTube user jeevesificationable is also an active MassiveSynth community member who has taken the time to provide several tutorials for Massive and will be continuing to do so for some time. This video shares how he creates a quick stabbing pad synth and is quite easy to follow for people of all levels of experience. Once completed, this sound is wide open to your interpretation with plenty of modulation slots available to you to begin shaping and evolving the sound until it is truly your own. On its own, it can be used is a pretty good range of music styles and is simple enough to fit into the mix without a lot of work.
At its heart, this sound is a classic super saw. With some slight detuning the basic phase/chorus effect begins to take shape. Adding just a touch of white noise takes some of the digital edge off. Setting it up as a monophonic sound with four voices and a legato trigger, it is made a bit wider by turning on the pan position feature and spreading the sound across the stereo field a little. Some small reverb and a dimension expander make the sound a whole lot bigger and wider, while the quick adjustments to the EQ settings round out the overall sound.
We thank Jeeves for providing another Massive tutorial for the community. If you have something you would like to share with everyone here, please let us know by sending us a message describing the tutorial you have in mind. We’d love to hear from you!
