Space Cake Dubstep Bass Tutorial for NI Massive
Here is a quick little NI Massive video tutorial for all of you looking to make a catchy and flexible dubstep wobble bass for your next production.
This video comes to you from YouTube user SeizaDubstep who produced the song Space Cake, and put together this quick lesson sharing how he designed the popular bass sound featured in the song. The volume is a little on the soft side, so make sure you dial it up so you don’t miss anything! He also points out that the sound works well with various different waveforms for the LFO controlling the wavetable position and intensity of the main oscillator, so make sure play around with this one a bit once your done here and make this sound fit your project perfectly.
This sound starts off with the main oscillator loaded up with a screamer wavetable. It is set to run in Formant mode and the parameters are adjusted to get the basic sound set up. He then configures an LFO controller with a Bending 1 waveform to modulate both the wavetable position and intensity of the oscillator to create the movement in the sound.
Add a classic tube amp to crank things up a bit and some chorus effect to create a wider stereo effect. Then the EQ is enable and some extra high end is added to finish shaping the sound. That pretty much wraps up the sound! As mentioned before, this sound is very flexible and quite easy to change up to make it your own, so do some experimenting with different waveforms, inserts and filters.
