Oscillator-less Sounds Utilizing Feedback Inside NI Massive
This video tutorial takes a look at using and manipulating NI Massive Feedback to create new and original sounds without the constant use of an Oscillator!
This video tutorial takes a look at using and manipulating NI Massive Feedback to create new and original sounds without the constant use of an Oscillator. This NI Massive tutorial presents two patches, the basic patch and the complex. The first patch is given to show a basic idea of whats going on inside the synth.
The basic patch relies on high values of Resonance inside a Daft Filter, and the use of a Performer to modulate the Amplitude of the Oscillator between off and on to create NI Massive Feedback. The Cutoff parameter of the Daft Filter is modulated via an Envelope or Macro to change the pitch of the feedback. If done successfully, with a note pressed and held, the Oscillator can be turned off and the feedback should still be playing!
The complex version of the NI Massive Feedback steps things up into a whole new level. Using multiple Filters, FX, Inserts, Envelopes and Performers to shape the sound using an intense amount of modulation and macro settings. Take a look at the video and learn the basic idea. Then head over to the forums to share the Oscillator-less NI Massive creations that you’ve come up with!
