NI Kontour - Synth Engine Tips and Tricks
In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works will continue to look at NI Kontour and some of the features of it’s Synth Engine section like the Oscillators.
If you missed the First Look Video for NI Kontour last week, make sure to check it out!
In this tutorial, I wanted to look at the Synth Engine section of NI Kontour. The Synth Engine section being the part of the signal flow that is generating the tones inside of Kontour.
In it, there are a two oscillators and a host of other phase modulation controls as well as shaping distortion effects. The Shapers and Phase Modulators are integral parts of Kontour’s signal flow. This is why Kontour is capable of numerous types of sounds. It does only use Sine waves, but because of the extensive shaping options, you can create really thick and gritty tones.
If you’re not familiar with what a Waveshaper is, it’s essentially a type of distortion based synthesis that introduces new harmonics and content produced from simple tones by altering the shape of the waveforms.
Check out the video to hear the first sound I ever made in NI Kontour and get some tips and tricks for working with the Synth Engine.
Cheers
