Create A Multi Genre Moody Pad in Massive
In this tutorial, learn how to to create a moody pad in Massive that will work with a lot of different genres!
I can never get enough pads. I love making them. For some reason I tend to get really creative with the routing and modulation options and this moody pad in Massive is no exception!
It’s a fairly advanced sound that requires a lot of modulation. I can’t stress enough that you need to follow the routing settings that are covered at the beginning of the video. Otherwise your sound won’t end up like this moody pad in Massive.
The bulk of the sound is made in the Oscillator section, but the expressiveness comes from using 3 LFO’s (5, 6 and 7) to introduce some modulation to various points along the signal flow. I used them to modulate the Insert Effects and Oscillator pitch. I also used a couple Envelopes set up with Morph settings to add even more of an analog feel to the sound.
The Chorus actually really thickens up the sound. I don’t tend to use it a lot in Massive’s effects section, but it really helped glue this sound together!
For third party processing, all I used was some delay because I used both FX slots in Massive.
