EDM Trap Lead and Mix Tips in Massive
In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works will show you how to create an EDM Trap lead in Massive as well as some mixing tips!
My latest soundset EDM Trap V.1, is a collection of presets and samples for EDM Trap. Learn how to make one of the leads from that pack in this tutorial!
Finding a good balance between drums, bass and leads can be tough with Trap. Here are some tips and tricks to get everything to blend better with an EDM Trap lead.
1.) EQ Rogue Frequencies: In this demo, I had a bass patch and a 808 kick sub drum. By default, both of those tracks would have conflicting frequencies. Use EQ to carve out those frequencies for not only a cleaner mix, but a punchier one.
2.) Pan What You Can: In EDM Trap, in a drop section you will typically only have a few instruments playing along with some drums. That isn’t a recipe for a wide stereo field. You’re gonna have to keep the sub and or bass and main lead in the center. You can pan your accent drums like hi hats, cymbals, percussion and accent snares!
3.) Limit/Compress your EDM Trap lead: It really helps make everything hit harder if you heavily compress or lightly limit the main lead in your drops. Especially with velocity sensitive patches.
