Here is the second installment of this week’s series on automation in NI Massive! As discussed several other times, arpeggiation is not something that is actually done quickly or easily in Massive and many people would say that it is just not done within Massive, period. Now technically arpeggiation is simply playing a series of notes (often a chord) in ascending or descending order. And rather than get hung up on the technicalities, I choose to decide if something sounds cool or not! Simple as that. And this is a fine example of using the Stepper within NI Massive to achieve something pretty cool effects through automating the rising and falling of notes with the touch of a key. This is a great technique to employ on a wide variety of sounds and can be quite effective in just about any kind of music you can create digitally. The HumanWorkshop Collective is a very cool project and you can see this and many other helpful and innovative videos on their YouTube channel HumanworkshopRecords.
