Maschine Drag and Drop MIDI to Sequence Tutorial
Sometimes it’s the little things that seem like they should be so simple that elude us with new software and hardware in the studio. We’ve been getting questions about how to get MIDI and audio into a DAW without a lot of hassle. Well, luckily it is as easy as using the handy Maschine drag and drop feature. Let’s take a closer look at how to get it done!
By clicking on the Group drop down menu, you can set up what is called Pattern Drag Mode and assign it to either MIDI or Audio. This is the first step in getting your sounds into your DAW, it’s also what allows you to use the Maschine drag and drop feature. Let’s start with MIDI. Make sure that you have a MIDI track available in your DAW. You then need to select Sound MIDI Batch Setup from the same group drop down menu, and set it to Sounds to MIDI Notes. Once both are set, you can simply click on the target icon on the far right of the group menu button, and as soon as you see the message “Done and ready to drag” than you can simply drag n’ drop the group MIDI sequence into your DAW.
Getting audio into your DAW is even easier. From the group drop down menu, set the Pattern Drag Mode to Audio to activate the Maschine drag and drop option. Click on the target icon and wait for the “Done and ready to drag” message and then drag n’ drop the sequence in your DAW arrangement window on an audio track.
You can also choose to record audio directly from Maschine into your DAW. This is as simple as assigning an audio track to Maschine in your DAW. Whether you work with audio or MIDI will affect what you are able to do with the sounds once they leave Maschine and become a part of your larger project in the DAW.
