Make that Huge Snare You've Dreamed of in Massive
In this original tutorial, I will show you how to make a huge snare in Massive. It’s crisp, it’s clear and it sounds as good as a sample.
Before sample companies existed, if you wanted a drum sample you had three choices; sample a real drum, rip a sample from a recording or make one in a synth. There are some pretty famous drum synthesizers or drum machines out there that you may have heard of like The Roland TR-808, TR-909, Oberheim DMX and the LinnDrum to name a few. Today we are all spoiled with soft synths and I myself forget that a synth like Massive is capable of creating drum sounds and more specifically, huge snares.
I recently made a soundset for Massivesynth.com for Massive that’s nothing but drums. You can check it out HERE. This tutorial will show you how to make a huge snare. The benefits of using drum sounds in a synth are plenty. You can control every important parameter to get the sound to better fit in your mix like the attack, the decay, the frequency etc., and layering the synthesized drum sounds with samples is well, Nirvana. Maybe Massive will become your go to drum synth after watching this tutorial, stranger things have happened.
