Learn How To make Custom MIDI Maps in Massive
In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows how to make custom MIDI Maps in Massive. Tweaking sounds just got a lot easier!
I’ve seen this question pop up a lot on production forums, “What MIDI controller works best with Massive?” and the answer to that is pretty much any and all of them. Any class compliant USB/MIDI keyboard will work and creating custom MIDI maps in Massive is really easy to do.
The first thing you need to do is create some connections or assignments in Massive to your USB/MIDI controller. To do this, simply right click on any macro, knob and some sliders and click MIDI LEARN in the drop down box that appears. Now move the knob or slider on your controller that you want to assign that parameter too. Once you have your assignments made, it’s time to save your custom MIDI maps in Massive.
Go up to your File tab at the top of Massive and select MIDI. Now click NEW and name your setup and hit save. I would suggest saving a few different layouts for different types of sounds. You you would ultimately have MIDI maps for leads, wobbles, pads or any type of sound you find yourself frequently using in Massive.
Using custom MIDI maps in Massive also makes automation a breeze!
