Learn How To Design A Grimey Hip Hop Bass in Massive
In this tutorial, learn how to design a grimey Hip Hop bass in Massive that will even work with Grime, Drum and Bass and Dubstep.
I really like it when a sound blurs the lines between genres. This grimey Hip Hop bass in Massive does just that. It could easily be used in Drum and Bass, Grime and even Dubstep, but I personally think it would sound great in a Hip Hop production!
The grimey Hip Hop bass in Massive is pretty easy to make. It’s just three pretty basic waveforms stacked and a little detune added using an envelope and an LFO.
One thing that you can take away from this tutorial and apply to your other sounds would be the filter settings.
I used both filters and used two different filter types to get the thick sound of the grimey Hip Hop bass in Massive. By putting the filters in Serial mode, you can use two filter types without having to blend between them in the Oscillator section. In Serial mode, even if you have the Filter mix slider all the way to Filter 2, some of Filter 1 will be present. This is a really cool way to create unique filters in Massive by blending between two different types like LP4 and Bandreject.
