Use Gated Sounds in Massive To Thicken A Mix
In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you how to make gated sounds in Massive, a great way to thicken up a mix!
I remember when gated sounds were all the rave. Now, they can seem a little outdated, but if used in a certain context, they can help thicken up a mix quite a bit. This quick tutorial will show you how to make gated sounds in Massive.
The only thing you have to do to turn any sound into a gated one in Massive is select an LFO and change the setting from “LFO” to “STEP”. In all of the odd numbered boxes, turn the slider up all the way. In all the even numbered boxes, keep it down all they way. Turn the amp down on your oscillator(s) and then modulate the amp with the STEP LFO you just made. Wallah! Making gated sounds in Massive is that easy.
Try side chaining it to make it more of a subtle sound and layer it with plucks or pads or leads for a thick, full sound.
