Welcome to this weeks member-only video tutorial. This is the second video of our month long tutorial series that is geared towards creating sound effects using NI Massive. Last week we created an Uplifter effect using only NI Massive. In this episode Jonny flips it around as he shows us how to create a killer Downlifter effect. If you like what you hear, check out ADSRSounds.com where you can find these and a load of other great sounds!

The Downlifter is a versatile sound. It’s usability is nearly endless. With only a little bit of tweaking you can turn this sound from being an effect that would be great in film sound design, to a musical strongpoint that would be the highlight of any musical composition. This is another sound where its creative uses are only limited by your imagination.
The reverse modulation of the LFO is what really drives the Downlifter. Jonny uses an envelope to modulate the LFO rate in a reverse fashion. This, coupled with a bit of Phase on the Modulation OSC and a Flanger effect, really make the Downlifting characteristic of the sound shine.
We hope you enjoy this original tutorial video. Stay tuned for part three, where Jonny will demonstrate how to synthesize a short sweeping sound. Like always, if you have any comments or questions feel free to post them in the comments or in the forums. Thanks for watching!
