Tips for Creating Unique EDM Leads Using NI Massive

Every NI Massive user takes a different approach when creating EDM Leads. Stepping out of the normal work flow can be a bit scary, but once in awhile it’s a good idea to make that leap and try something new. Watching other producers work can often inspire new ideas and be very rewarding. You can gain new skills and generate ideas that you may have never considered beforehand. Thankfully, the internet provides a slew of resources (like MassiveSynth.com) that allow us to sit in and watch others’ workflow.

In this video tutorial, YouTube user HaatoSK shares his way of developing EDM Leads using NI Massive. His approach to sound design is a little different than most the tutorials here, as he first considers things like the number of Voices, the amount of Pitch Cutoff, and the shape of the ADSR Envelope. This is different from the more popular method of choosing a Wavetable and/or effects first.

While you may or may not agree with this method, it’s a valid approach that should be considered when designing your own unique sounds. Who knows? It may help boost your creativity!
