Designing an NI Massive Nuclear Lead Synth
In this tutorial we’ll take a look at recreating the lead synth from Zomboy’s track Nuclear. An NI Massive Nuclear Lead that sounds great, yet is surprisingly quick and easy to design. This is a perfect demonstration of just how easy it is to create powerful sounds using Native Instrument’s Massive synth, without the need for advanced synthesis knowledge.
To start off this NI Massive Nuclear lead synth turn on OSC1 and assign it a Sin-Square Wavetable. Raise the pitch of OSC1 by 12 semitones (an Ocatave) and turn the Wt-position all the way down. Next, turn on OSC2 and assign it a Sin-Square Wavetable. Drop the pitch of OSC2 down 36 semitones (3 Octaves), turn the Wt-position all the way down, and drop the Amp level to about 2/3’s.
Next, assign a Classic Tube distortion to FX1, and slightly turn down both the Dry/Wet and Drive. Add a Dimension Expander, and turn the Dry/Wet slightly below midway, and drop the Size all the way down to about 1 tick. All that is needed now is to activate the EQ on this NI Massive Nuclear Lead and turn the Low Shelf down a few notches.
