How to Make the Deadmau5 Veldt Synth in NI Massive
Using NI Massive it is a very quick and easy task to recreate the Deadmau5 synth from the popular song Veldt. This video tutorial shows you how to get it done in less than one minute!
Just because a synth sounds complex, doesn’t mean it requires a lot of work to design, as we have learned countless times here at MassiveSynth.com. This is another good example of less is more and a good argument for keeping things simple. More often than not, it is what you do with the sounds once you make them, and Deadmau5 has gained the reputation of being a master of this craft. So let’s take a look at how this one comes together.
First, load up a Soft Square wavetable into OSC1 and lower the Amp level slightly. Next, load up a Roughmat I wavetable into OSC2. And then a Gentle Speech wavetable is loaded into OSC3 and the Wt-position is offset slightly. That gives you the basic sound.
Now the sound is extended by adding some Tape Delay and a small amount of sample delay on the right channel. Now there also appears to be a plugin called Camel Phat used as well on the example in the video, but the settings are not shown. It just beefs up the sound a bit, so if you feel yours needs a little extra something, try using some saturation.
