Datsik Synth Sound Using NI Massive
In this tutorial Producer Tom Stocks, also known as Dr. Hobo, show us how to create a Synth Sound similar to the artist Datsik!
In this video tutorial, Tom Stocks (a.k.a. Dr. Hobo) walks us through the creation of a Datsik Synth sound using NI Massive. If you like this tutorial, check out Tom’s FM8 Growl video over on ADSRSounds.com.
Start the Datsik Synth by assigning OSC1 a Gentle Speech wavetable. Set the Wt-position to about 70%. Assign OSC2 an A.I. wavetable, and set the mode to Formant. Slightly detune the pitch to -0.09, and set the Wt-position to 75% and the Intensity to 30%. Turn on OSC 3 and leave everything at default.
Assign Filter 1 of the Datsik Synth a Daft Filter. Set the Cutoff to 60% and the Resonance to 15%. For the effects assign a Dimension Expander to FX1, and set the Dry/Wet and Size to 20%. FX2 should be assigned a Flanger Negative, with the Dry/Wet, the Rate, and the Feedback around 30%, and the Depth set to about 70%. Insert 1 should be assigned a Sine Shaper, with the Dry/Wet and Drive set to around 35%. In the EQ, Slightly boost the Low Shelf. Max the Boost and set the Frequency to about 70%.
Set LFO 5 to a Sinus Uni Curve. The Curve of the Sine wave for LFO 6, LFO 7 and LFO 8 should all be moved to where they are slightly out of sync with each other. For the LFO assignments, Assign LFO 5 to the Low Shelf and LFO 7 to the High Shelf.Set LFO 5 to control the Wt-position of OSC1. Set LFO 6 to control the Wt-position of OSC2. LFO5 should modulate the Cutoff of Filter 1, and LFO 8 should modulate the Amp of the Noise module.
