Thicken Up Your Mix With A Dark Organ In Massive
This tutorial will show you how to make a dark organ in Massive that you can use to help thicken up your mixes and glue things together.
The organ is one of the most famous instruments of all time. It has been used on countless classic tracks and in multiple genres. It’s not often thought of as a sound used in the electronic world, but it still finds it’s way onto tracks. Try using this dark organ in Massive to help thicken up your mix!
Making an organ sound in Massive isn’t all that hard. Sure it’s not as convincing as a sample library, but it’s close enough to give the effect. The organ has been used for decades as the “glue” track because of it’s harmonic structure and sometimes that’s just what a mix needs. You can of course use an organ in Massive as a pad or lead too! I think it would work really well in genres like dubstep and progressive.
One important thing to remember is to have a good range of pitches spanned across in your oscillators. Don’t just pitch everything to 0, or 12 etc. because it won’t have that organ sound. Using one oscillator as the bass frequencies and the other two for the mids and the highs usually works best.
