Echo Sound Works will show you how to create an expressive Moog patch in Massive
In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works will show you some great tips and tricks for using the Velocity Macro to make an expressive Moog patch in Massive.
You can apply these tips to any sound made in Massive so open up one of your old favorites and breathe new life into it!
The Moog patch in Massive is just three oscillators stacked with variations of Saw wavetables. That’s where the Moog sound comes from. You could of course experiment and try using different waveforms in the oscillators.
To make the Moog patch in Massive change from vintage to modern, use the Velocity Macro to modulate a few destinations. I modulated the Cut Off, Noise Oscillator Amp, Vibrato and Glide all with Velocity Macro. As I played notes at higher velocities, these destinations will open up via the Velocity Macro and literally transform the sound from vintage to modern!
I also added some reverb, delay and side chain compression to give the sound more of an edge and cut through the mix.
