Better Leads With Vibrato in Massive
In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you how to add some really expressive vibrato in Massive that will help make your leads more memorable!
A lot of EDM producers will introduce vibrato that comes in over time on lead sounds. Adding expressive vibrato in Massive is really easy and you can apply it to almost any lead!
1.) This effect works best on monophonic sounds
2.) Make sure any envelopes you use to modulate the vibrato have Trg Zero Reset selected as this will make the ADSR of those envelopes retrigger with each note or key pressed.
You will ultimately have to use two envelopes to control the vibrato in Massive to do this trick. One envelope needs to have a very long attack time. This will control the Depth of the vibrato via modulation. Then open another envelope and make another custom shape, but make the attack time less than the attack time of the first envelope. This second envelope will modulate the speed of the vibrato. You want to do this because it will not only introduce the vibrato over time, but it will also speed it up as it goes.
Finally, you can make vibrato in Massive even more expressive by simply adding the Velocity macro to the attack time of the first envelope (the one with the longest attack time). You can then have vibrato come in dependent on a note’s velocity!
