Yamaha CS80 - Why Is It Worth So Much?
In this video from Look Mum No Computer, we explore the legendary synthesizer that is the Yamaha CS-80 polyphonic analog synthesizer that was released in 1976. The synth is notably heard in Vangelis’ “Blade Runner” soundtrack and the 1980 theme of Doctor Who.
The CS-80 is by no means a cheap synthesizer (costing $6900 USD), however the synthesizer clearly has attributes that warrant its high price, such as its expression features (polyphonic aftertouch, velocity-sensitive), 8-voice polyphony and more.
