This Website Combines Field Recordings From All Over The World
Cities and Memory is an online art/sound project that allows you to listen to over 1800 field recordings from all over the world, from the hubbub of San Francisco’s main station to spiritual temple chanting in New Taipei City and more.
Every location on the sound map features two sounds: the original field recording of that place, and a reimagined sound that presents that place and time as somewhere else, somewhere new.
What’s more is that the project is open to submissions, allowing field recordists, sound artists and musicians alike to contribute to the growing project. Apparently, nearly 400 contributors have gotten involved with Cities and Memory so far.
You can visit the Cities and Memory website to learn more.
