Recreating Vangelis' Signature Blade Runner Synth Sound With The microKORG
In this video from Youtuber StrangeQuarkStar, we see how the Korg microKORG virtual analog synthesizer can be used to recreate the signature Vangelis synth sound heard in the 1982 Blade Runner.
From information he provides in the video’s description:
Everybody loves the signature Vangelis sound. Very few have access to a Yamaha CS 80. Hence this tutorial!
The reverb used is coming from Valhalla DSP’s Vintage Verb, adjusted to mimic Vangelis’ classic Lexicon 224 model.
Although many of you probably don’t own a microKORG, the steps outlined in this video could still be applied to synth patches in other synthesizers that support pitch and filter modulation. There’s never a right or wrong way to create a certain sound, so just have at it!
