POLYTIK: Hand-Held Modular Synth Modules
POLYTIK, a new Kickstarter project on the rise, is a series of open-source modular synth modules, each having their own distinct functions and characteristics. What’s peculiar about these modules, contrary to almost every synth you can think of, is that there are no labels for each parameter. While this could potentially be overwhelming at first, it could also lend itself to creative experimentation.
POLYTIK MODULES
- Core (Blue)
- A sequencer, programmer and mixer
- Combi (Black)
- Voltage-controlled feedback, voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and filtering
- VCO (Red)
- Voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and voltage-controlled filter (VCF)
- Noise (Yellow)
- Noise generator, patchable feedback networks and voltage-controlled filter (VCF)
To support the costs involved with manufacturing overhead, The Kickstarter project has a projected goal of $25,000 by March 2. We definitely like the idea behind POLYTIK, and we hope to see these synth modules gain more momentum in the industry.
