Loop 2016: Overcoming Creative Blocks

In this video on behalf of the Ableton Loop 2016 seminar, we explore the causes and effects of “creative blocks” while writing music, receiving insight from influential producers including Young Guru and Matthew Herbert.

Regarding musical inspiration, Young Guru explains:

“I got the guitar sound, I can sit here and twiddle with it for eighteen, umpteen hours…but it sounds good, just record it and lets move on”

We agree. While musical technicality is important, it’s best to save it for later. There is nothing worse than losing your original idea to the quest for musical perfection.
