Junkie XL On Hardware Vs. Software Samplers

In this latest installment of Junkie XL’s (Tom Holkenborg) Studio Time video series, we explore some of the differences between using hardware and software samplers while shaping new sounds.

One of the most popular software samplers out there is NI Kontakt, providing a heap of manipulative parameters as well as a transparent sound. Holkenborg uses this sampler quite frequently in the video to compare with his array of hardware samplers, and it’s clear that many of the hardware samplers like the Ensonique Mirage provide their own unique colorations to the source sound.
