Inside NASA's Acoustic Sound Testing Facility
In this video, NASA sound engineer Aron Hozman provides background into NASA’s powerful acoustic space chamber, responsible for preparing a rocket to withstand the overwhelming sound pressure during takeoff.
As he explains, the speakers used in the facility can produce incredibly powerful sound levels, comparable to roughly 10,000 traditional sound systems combined. Aside from the spacecraft, we can’t imagine the measures that astronauts must take to protect their ears!
