In conversation with Synthesiser legend Malcolm Cecil
Malcolm Cecil initially made his name in the UK Jazz scene but became synonymous with the world of sythnesizers in the 1970s. He developed and designed a legendary synth called TONTO after his band, T.O.N.T.O.’s Expanding Head Band. He became the go to guy fro the likes of Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones and the Isley Brothers in the 1970s due to it’s unique sound.
Here he sits down with writer Mark Vail to discuss the synth, his legacy and the wider world of music technology and production. It’s a fascinating conversation with a synth legend.
