4 Ways To Tune a Kick Drum
Echo Sound Works takes you through 4 different methods of tuning a kick drum.
Tuning kick drums is especially important for genres like EDM. Luckily there are a few types of ways to to tune a kick.
1.) The first method is to just use a drum synthesizer like SA Kick. This will allow you fully tune a kick with just a few clicks.
2.) The second method is to figure out the pitch or tune of the kick and then drop it into a sampler like Battery or Kontakt and pitch it using the samplers pitch stretching ability
3.) You can always manipulate the actual sample by making aggressive EQ cuts and boosts. Check out the video to see how this is done.
4.) Use a Pitch Shifting plugin. This sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. I think it depends on the kick sample and the quality of the pitch shifter.
