Understanding Compression - Pt 2 - Sidechaining and Examples
In the second part of the mini-series, I show some specific examples of compression in my own project and then explain sidechain compression.
To get an idea of how the Maschine compressor can actually be used, I show instances of the effect on my drum group, bass, sample group, and finally the master bus.
For drums, the compressor adds some presence and fatness; for bass, it acts almost like a saturator, adding punch and some harmonics.
I use sidechain compression on the sample group to get a ducking/pumping effect. Here, learn how to select a sidechain input source and fine-tune it with gain and filter controls.
To finish the video, I show how the compressor can be used on the master bus.
