Understanding Compression - Pt 1 - Main Settings

In Part 1 of this mini-series, learn the basics of the built-in compressor in Maschine. I first talk about compression from a high-level approach and then move to the specific parameters within Maschine.

Hopefully, by the end of this video, you will be comfortable with each of these parameters: mode, threshold, knee, amount, attack, release, and gain. I talk about what exactly each parameter does and some general tips for different compression applications.

In Part 2, linked above, I go into some specific examples of compression on drums, bass, samples, and even the master bus. I also cover sidechain compression and all related parameters.
