Step Mode on Maschine Studio Hardware
In this video for Maschine Studio, learn how to use Step Mode, also called a step sequencer.
Enabling Step Mode turns Maschine’s pads into beat grid locations in which you can insert notes. I first show how you can set the step grid to different resolutions to suit the type of pattern you want to create. For very simple patterns, you can use a coarse resolution such as a quarter note. This will enable you to place notes at any quarter note division of the pattern. For more complex patterns, use a finer resolution such as 1/8 or 1/16.
By hitting any pad, you can insert a note for your selected sound. I show how you can easily change this note’s velocity, pitch, length, and timing. The large color screens gives helpful visual feedback as you create patterns.
To show how the step mode can be used, I first create a drum pattern and follow up with a simple melody.
