Additional Slicing Techniques
In this video for Maschine, learn some new techniques for slicing your samples.
Typically, slices are set in a way that allows them to connect and sound legato. This fills the loops with sound and creates a seamless sounding track, but limits your options when it comes time to slice.
In this video, I show a different technique that leads to shorter slices and greater flexibility. By working with an ADSR envelope rather than one-shot, the duration of the slices can be controlled, and smaller snippets of the sample can be used.
To fill in the gaps and make things sound cohesive, I show how you can use delay and reverb on the slice group. This ties everything together and prevents it from sounding too detached.
