Routing Abbey Road Drums in Pro Tools
Kontakt includes some amazing drums in Abbey Road Modern Drummer, Vintage Drummer, 50s Drummer, 60s Drummer, 70s Drummer and 80s Drummer. Each of these kits have mics on each of the sounds as well as various overhead and room mics. To have full control over each of these sounds requires you to setup your DAW, Kontakt Outputs and the mixer in each of the kits.
This video tutorial will show how you to do this in Pro Tools. And while each DAW is slightly different, the same principles apply. Also this video uses Abbey Road 60s Drums, all of the kits in the Abbey Road series can be configured in the same manner.
Conclusion
Processing drums separately in your DAW always produces the greatest sound and offers greater flexibility during mixing. Feel free to play around in Abbey Road or in your DAW with Sidechain Compression, Parallel Compression and reverb.
