Nathan Johnson Mangles Everyday Sounds in Kontakt For The Movie Looper
Composer Nathan Johnson discusses the field recordings he and his team used in Kontakt to create the musical fabric for director Rian Johnson’s film Looper.
For Looper, Nathan wanted a much different sound from his previous work. Instead of the typical orchestral score, Nathan and Rian wanted more of a rhythmic sound.
Nathan went down to New Orleans and created everyday sounds such as Fans, Treadmills, Springs, Metal Clanging and much, much more.
Nathan’s good friend, Son Luk was brought on board to create Instruments in Kontakt and turning these random sounds into the music you here in the movie.
The cue “Time Machine” from the LOOPER original score is featured.
