Kontakt Instrument Level Meters in Performance View
Kontakt Scripting offers many user interface controls that can be used in Performance View. One of these is a level meter. In today’s video tutorial, I will show you to use create Level Meters in Performance View.
There are many UI Controls in Kontakt Scripting and the Level Meter is one of them. It allows you read volume data at certain positions within the Instrument.
Currently, the level meters can only be attached to the output level of the instrument buses and the instrument master.
To use a Level Meter, declare it with declare ui_level_meter and give it a variable name. Next you need to attach it to the Instrument Master or a Instrument Bus Slot with attach_level_meter. The parameters of attach_level_meter are ui id, group, slot, channel and bus.
For ui id you’ll need to retrieve the ui id of the control. To do that you need to use get_ui_id. You pass get_ui_id the name of the variable whose ui id you want to get and it will return the ui id. Next is the group. Because level meters can only be attached to the output level of the instrument buses and the instrument master, this must be set to -1. The same goes for slot. Channel select either the left (0) or right (1) channel. And Bus is the index of the instrument bus you wish to access. You should set this to -1 if you are not accessing the bus level.
