Kontakt Multichannel Routing in Pro Tools
This video tutorial will show you how Kontakt multichannel routing in Pro Tools work.
Setting up kontakt multichannel routing is Pro Tools is slightly different than other DAWs. In Pro Tools it’s not particularly difficult, but it may not be that obvious. This tutorial assumes you know Pro Tools basics such as adding tracks and inserting instruments. If not you may want to view a Pro Tools primer or brush up in the manual.
The first thing you want to do is add an instrument track for each Kontakt Instrument. Then you add a multichannel instance of Kontakt to one of these tracks. Next you setup the Outputs Section to have as many outputs as you need (up to 32 stereo or 64 mono). Add your instruments to the Rack and set the output and midi channel of each. And finally back in Pro Tools, set the Midi Output and Audio input of each of the instrument tracks you will be using with Kontakt.
This procedure can also be applied to other multichannel virtual instruments as well.
Until next time…Now go make some music!
