Create Realistic Glides and Portamento using Kontakt Scripts and SIPS
In this video tutorial, we will show you how to Create Realistic Glides and Portamento using Kontakt Scripts and SIPS, the Solo Instrument Performance Suite.
SIPS allows you to create realistic glides and portamento that connect samples in a realistic manner. Apart from the basic gliding feature, there is also a portamento mode that creates a chain of notes connecting two adjacent notes and also a sample start time knob which allows you to configure the sample start of the new notes. Also random offset modes and the auto offset modes are included which keeps increasing the sample start point in a series of connected notes, resulting in a sound such as playing the flute with a single breath, or playing legato with a guitar until the sustain fades out.
Conclusion
These scripts were created in 2006 by R. D. Villwock, aka Big Bob and was presented in forums such as Northern Sounds and www.Vi-control.net, the latter being the website were the development continues. The scripts were beta tested by Theodor Krueger and Andrew Karestzes of www.audiobro.com, developer of LASS.
SIPS will not replace sample libraries programmed with real legato intervals such as Hollywood Strings by East West or Epic Horns by VSL, but they will surely bring a new life to your old sample libraries.
SIPS is also included as a professional product in the Kontakt version of Sonic Implants Symphonic Orchestra. If you don’t have Symphonic Orchestra you can download SIPS here.
Until next time…now go make some music.
