FM8's Arpeggiator Walkthrough -The Secrets of FM8's Arpeggiator Part 1
Kicking off a brand new featured series for FM8, learn everything you need to know to use FM8’s arpeggiator.
FM8 has a pretty extensive arpeggiator. It comes with a lot presets, you can save your own presets/patterns, it goes out to 32 steps which can become very important when you start producing your track and it can even be de-synced from your host. All that adds up to a powerful and versatile arpeggiator.
Johnny goes over the initial controls you see when you click on the arpeggiator. FM8’s arpeggiator comes with various modes. One helpful mode is “Hold”. If you activate “Hold” you can play a note or a few notes and the arpeggiator will continuously play the notes you played. So you can start with a basic patch and get the arp sequence you want down and then go back and edit the sound to have it fit the mix perfectly. Check out and play around with the various modes to get a clearer idea of what each one sounds like.
Check out the video to see the arpeggiator in action and stay tuned for next week’s second part in this month’s series that will look at the tempo and expression options as well as the pattern editor.
