Geeky? Sure. Helpful? Without a doubt!
This is one huge time saver for a lot of you who have a bunch of great patches to import, but really don’t want to spend countless hours getting them all into FM8. So, complete with names, settings, etc it can be done for you with a little help from Excel. First you need to switch to full screen mode for this video, as it is much easier to see all the details and you don’t want to miss anything in the beginning.
Once you have your info entered into your Excel macro spreadsheet, you launch FM8 from Native Instruments and let it know you want to import an sysex files and away you go! If you are unsure how to set up macro files within Excel, then you should refer to your manual or check out one of the many videos on sites like YouTube to get you through the parts that are tripping you up. Needless to say, if you have a bunch of banks to import it is well worth the effort to get this set up.
Good luck! And enjoy those classic sounds.
Cheers,
