How to Make a Saw Lead with FM8 in Two Minutes
This FM8 video tutorial is perfect for people producing Trance or other types of dance music, and will show you how to create a professional sounding lead in just a couple minutes!
Very quick and easy to follow this video will help you get a handle on some of the basic parameters and features you need to pay attention to when making a simple saw lead such as this. As you can see, it really is a simple process when using FM8. You can play around with it once it’s done by adding some filters, effects and even arpeggiation depending on what exactly you need for your current project.
It begins with adding a sawtooth wave operator to the default sine wave operator. Both get some feedback added individually and then the levels are adjusted until a nice balance is found. A few small adjustments are made to the main envelope of the sound to get the delivery right. The unison voicing value is increased, as is the amount of detuning to give it that classic Trance sound. Some reverb is added to create more space for the sound to evolve in. And lastly, a little chorus/delay is introduced to the sound to make it even bigger and deeper.
There are countless quick sound design opportunities with FM8. Do you have one that you would like to share with FM8 users all around the world? Send us a message letting us know and we’ll be happy to follow up with you and see about getting your ideas in front of the FM8Tutorials community!
