Heavy Electro with FM8 - Part 4 - The Sub & Bus Processing
We welcome you to the fourth and final video tutorial of the Heavy Electro with FM8 series. In part 4 of the series, Jonny guides us through creating and adding a Sub Bass, and Bus Processing!
Welcome back to FM8Tutorials.com’s tutorials. This is the fourth and final part of our series on Heavy Electro music using FM8. In this tutorial, Jonny guides us through the final part of building a Heavy Electro Loop by delving into the Sub & Bus Processing.
In this tutorial, we look at finishing off the loop that we have been working on through out the entire series. Initially, our first bass sounds were providing the low end energy, but by adding a sub bass we can include a bit more depth to our loop and provide an extra bit of energy. However, before we add the sub bass we need to make room for it in our mix. We need to roll off the low end of our competing bass tracks, so any frequencies below 100hz should be rolled out to make room for our sub bass.
With the sub bass in place, Jonny adds a side-chain compressor to bring out the sub in between kick drum hits. He then adds a bit of compression to the sub bass to keep an even and steady attack. Now that everything is in place, Jonny utilizes the Busses to add effects that help finalize the mix.
We hope that you enjoyed this tutorial. Like always, if you have any questions, feedback, comments, concerns, or suggestions, we would love to hear from you. We are constantly looking for new ideas to continue providing the community with great sound design tutorials.
