FX Sounds with FM8 Part 4: Special FX
Welcome back to the fourth and final part of our series on creating Special FX Sounds using Native Instrument’s FM8. In this video, Jonny details the steps used to create his booming rattle effect!
This awesome effect uses no filter, but takes advantage of the multiple waveforms and unique envelope shapes to deliver a beautiful sound effect that is full of texture. The envelope shapes help keep the sound moving. Allowing the sounds of the operators to present themselves at just the right time to create this lush and dynamic sound.
With this sound, Jonny takes full advantage of what FM8 has to offer. Adding just the right amount of emphasis to enhance the sonic details of the effect. Such subtle enhancements are demonstrated all over this patch. Such as the use of Key Scaling on the LFO, which adds to both the intrigue add playability of the effect. It’s the little finely-tuned things that make a sound shine, and this sound effect is definitely a shiner!
