In the second instalment of our series on designing sounds FX with FM8, we look at creating both a Impact and Short Sweep Sound Effect.
Welcome back to the second part of our member only tutorial series that is delving into the realm of creating effects in FM8. In this tutorial, Jonny demonstrates how to create two effects, an Impact and a Short Sweep. The Impact being a shiny, yet distant, modulated sound, and the Short Sweep a rising sound that would be perfect right before a drop. No matter how they are used, these sound effects have the ability to up any production to another level!
Again, the shape of the envelopes play a major role in the design of these effects. For the Impact, the shape of the Filter’s Envelope has a huge effect on the sound. For the Short Sweep, the Filters envelope is left unmodified, but Operator E’s envelope is adjusted to provide the correct modulation of Operator F.
We hope that you have learned some new ways to use FM8. Stay tuned for part 3 of the series on FX Sounds With FM8. Next week Jonny will be back to show up how to create Down & Uplifter effects using FM8!
